If you are here to know what business vision is, I will show you a very simple concept. Basically, business vision is the company's perception regarding the future of the business. In other words, the company projects where it wants to go and what goals it will achieve. But in this text, I want to show you something that goes beyond this definition. After all, where is technology within the business vision? That technology emerged to facilitate and improve human life and work, everyone already knows very well. Therefore, Industry 4.0 is the main characteristic of this generation. Machines, little by little, are losing their apocalyptic stigma and becoming incorporated into the business mindset across various sectors. For this reason, a separation was established between Computer Vision x Business Vision. Despite economic crises, the Brazilian market has resorted to technological innovation to mature and overcome challenges. Brazil is no longer seen by the world solely for its natural resources, but also as a hub of technological production and consumption. For this to happen, a re-signification and change of mindset was required from both big business owners and final consumers. While machines perform mechanical, repetitive, and exhausting functions, the type of professional who has been gaining prominence in the market scene is the one qualified in more complex and subjective functions. In addition, SENAI recently conducted a survey indicating continuous growth in technology-related professions until 2023. This change in mindset and vision of the business environment is essential to propel Brazil towards full integration into Industry 4.0 and the 4th Industrial Revolution. Technology in the future of the company: the example of computer vision
Just as the vision of the Brazilian businessman had to adapt to the future that arrived, technological vision also acquired a new scope. One of the most prominent tools of Artificial Intelligence is the enhancement of human vision itself: Computer Vision. In this sense, people already use this resource and often don't even know it. In a world increasingly dominated by the gaze of multiple cameras, whether in places, on the streets, or at home, through smartphones, countless artificial eyes see every step and movement of people. It may seem a little scary, but one must think about the use these artificial eyes can have and the consequences they cause in society. Therefore, the innovative mindset needs to be aligned with human ethics when dealing with this type of technology. It is necessary to think of solutions that truly have a good impact on people's lives and that, in fact, solve and facilitate their problems, whether in the industrial routine or in daily life.
Perception and decision-making from a business perspective
Moving in this direction, companies need to have two key characteristics: good perception combined with assertive and efficient decision-making. To this end, we return to the topic where teams are combining the high productivity and efficacy of machines with the more specialized human factor in the subjective rational process. While machines surpass (by far!) humans in tasks that require repetition, speed, and precision, they still lack the ability to interpret diverse scenarios and situations, as well as the agility to adapt to adversity and unexpected circumstances. Machines lack the logical reasoning to make decisions. Therefore, the human element is still indispensable in this equation. In this way, perception comes to guide and direct decision-makers in the direction that best suits the scenario and context in which they are placed. Each sector and each area of knowledge/work has its own specific characteristics and peculiarities. Therefore, human minds need to be sharp and tuned in to what is emerging in the technological field. Otherwise, there is a risk of becoming stagnant in time. Consumers, in turn, are keeping up with every leap that technology takes towards the future. And they are increasingly demanding in relation to the companies and brands they consume. The main concerns are with security and privacy. Consumers know they are being seen and heard at all times by countless artificial eyes and ears. They also know that their data is processed by mechanical brains. It is up to companies to understand how to apply technology in a responsible, sustainable, and efficient way, both for themselves and for the final consumer. The main challenge is the merging of two visions: Computer Vision x Business Vision.
