Pix Force won the "Smart Territories Challenge," developed by Votorantim SA in partnership with 100 Open Startups. This challenge, which began on August 21 of this year, consisted of inviting startups – emerging companies – to think about and develop solutions in territory management.

The company's idea was to give space for startups to suggest and incorporate resources for new technologies and efficiency in services such as large area monitoring, data collection, security, and surveillance into its Real Estate Solutions Center. Votorantim's Real Estate Solutions Center works with all real estate assets of investee companies, promoting optimization in its service delivery.

In total, there were 54 startups registered in the challenge. Of these, 38 complied with the rules and adhered to the theme. These were evaluated through an online platform by Votorantim executives and investee companies. At the end of the evaluation phase, 9 startups remained, which were forwarded to the Demo Day – an event where they could present their projects in five minutes each. A panel composed of technical teams from the companies, legal, information technology, and corporate development evaluated all presentations, with two minutes for questions.

After the presentations, the startups with the most interesting and viable proposals were selected to discuss their plan with company mentors and carry their ideas forward. The best startups will work until March 2018, developing a supply plan for Votorantim's Real Estate Solutions Center.

The Votorantim group completes 100 years of existence in 2018. A leader in several of the markets in which it operates (Votorantim Cimentos, Votorantim Metais, Votorantim Siderurgia, Votorantim Energia, CBA (Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio), Fibria, Citrosuco, and Banco Votorantim), it has become, over time, one of the country's major business groups.

PixForce, one of the winners of the challenge, specializes in the use of artificial intelligence for the remote sensing of extensive areas. Images obtained by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or satellites are analyzed automatically using proprietary machine learning algorithms. The presentation, which made Pix Force a highlight in the project, was led by founders Daniel Moura and Renato Gomes, and by Commercial Director Laura Sabbatini.
